The study quantifies the advent of the data age and the adoption of emerging technologies across different sectors: Across all sectors, IoT has the most current users (but only 28%). 5G has the fewest current users but has the shortest implementation timeframe with a horizon of 2.6 years. Participants have varying confidence in their understanding of the potential of 5G: 59% in France, 62% in China and only 24% in Japan. For five out of six Country Email List technologies, financial services are at the forefront of use case development. The retail sector comes second in most cases, despite a notable lag in AI adoption. 62% of healthcare companies say half or more of their data is dark data. The public sector lags behind private companies in adopting emerging technologies. Manufacturing decision makers (78%) expect data growth to outpace all other sectors; and 76% anticipate an increase in the value of data. On the other hand, according to the French participants, the adoption of these technologies will probably solve some of the problems of dark data but risks aggravating others... Also note that Edge Computing and IoT are the most used technologies currently (22%), just ahead of Blockchain (21%) and AR/VR (19%). Unsurprisingly, 5G is the technology businesses plan to implement in the future (65%), ahead of AI/ML (56%) and IoT (47%).
